Mission: Heartland casa (court appointed special advocate) supports abused and neglected children in the court system through recruiting and training informed, caring volunteers who speak for these children.
Programs: At heartland casa, we serve as court appointed special advocates for abused and neglected children in hall, howard, hamilton and merrick counties in nebraska. For a child in the court system, this means that his or her concerns, needs, rights and feelings will be represented by an adult whose only job is to speak for the child. Volunteers have a unique opportunity to put the needs of the child first and to concentrate on understanding what is happening in the eyes of the child throughout the course of his or her case. As the child welfare system grapples with change and limited resources, we provide a vital, consistent voice.
