I got involved with this non-profit because their mission was a passion of mine, but it quickly became evident that their mission felt short-sighted. The founder refused to partner with another local organization because of her personal feelings about them, despite the benefits of collaboration. Also, I was later told after leaving the non-profit by the founder that there were false assumptions made regarding myself that contributed to why I was "allowed" to volunteer, despite my extensive relevant experience and knowledge. The non-profit's heart is in the right place with its mission, but the approach and execution aren't what they could be.
