Causes: Health, Health Support
Mission: To develop programs and promote advocacy to make wellness a community priority in the tampa bay area through collaboration with other organizations and local businesses. We want to make the healthy choice the easy choice. Regrettably, insufficient funding for projects forced healthy together to close its doors at the end of the fiscal year.
Programs: Community wellness1. Prime time sister circles - african american women are dying prematurely of chronic disease at a rate higher than any other population in america. To counter that, healthy together enlisted a proven, evidence-based program designed specifically for these women (40-70 years old) to help them learn how to manage their personal wellness. Developed by dr. Marilyn gaston & dr. Gayle porter, the ptsc program uses esteem-building support groups to motivate participants to make changes critical to their personal lifestyle. Healthy together received partial funding for a round of circles in 2011, but was not able to secure sufficient additional funding to support the program. The restricted funding was returned to the grantors. 2. Prime time sister circles alumni - once the women have graduated from the ptsc program, they found a strong need and desire to continue expanding their wellness knowledge - not only for their own wellness, but that of other sisters, their family and their community. Healthy together supported the local founding of the prime time sister circles alumni in the tampa area, working with drs. Gaston & porter to develop and refind their program nationally.
workplace wellnesssmoking cessation - working with various business groups in the tampa area and the tampa anti-drug alliance to promote no-smoking campuses for businesses and to provide avenues, outreach and programs to help people kick this addiction.

An affiliated marketing agency under the healthy together umbrella developed to generate additional revenue to healthy together by providing marketing services to socially responsible businesses, organizations and causes, primarily in the non-profit sector. 2. Mobile engagement - rising tides developed an innovative program for reach up and healthy start using mobile communication technology to reach young monthers through their cell phones with health messages and reminders to ensure their health and wellness and that of their children.
