Mission: Not for profit organization serving vernon county, mo with the mission to engage individuals to make the most of life's opportunities through well-being. The goal is to create a healthier vernon county through programs, access and education. Health nevada also offers community grants to those who meet our mission. Current programming is around health education, healthy lifestyles, diabetes vulnerable populations, physical activity, smoking, and prenatal care.
Programs: Provided $6998. 75 of funding to engage the community in the "moving and losing" community health challenge for the fourth successful year. The challenge offers an opportunity for participants to track nutrition intake, physical activity, weight loss, and personal health assessment. In 2017-197,000,000 steps were logged. In 2017, 357 participants reported a weight loss total of 957 pounds. The healthy nevada staff received training by the american council on exercise to better serve the participants during health challenges.
provided $19825. 25 for an innovative technology to support community asset mapping. This program was purchased for the community to send referrals across the multiple sectors that support housing, food, health, education, transit, etc. Healthy nevada worked with the university of kansas to assess the needs to support this broad community network. This network will support established resources that potentially are being under-utilized or overused. The investment includes training of healthy nevada staff to facilitate this technology to community residents.
provided $10823 for an employer wellness program to support local employers for an onsite wellness program. In partnership with nevada regional medical center, healthy nevada provided discount lab and biometeric screenings to employees; to educate them about their current health status. In addition, healthy nevada facilitated onsite worksite wellness program, that included nurtition sessions and physical activity instruction. Employers were provided with wellness pledge boards, they adopted a new health goal for their workplace and participated in community health workshops. 30 small and large employers participated, all completed and received $150 prize to be spent for their worksite. Healthy nevada also participated in health fairs at employer sites and facilitated a "worksite wellness award" for chamber of commerce members. Survey monkey, a cloud-based survey development platform was utilized to capture data by employers. Staff completed employer wellness ceritifcation by the wellness council of america.
