Mission: Healthy harford is the healthy communities initiative of harford county, md. Founded in 1993 as a non-profit 501(c)(3), it is a coalition of local government agencies, businesses, non-profits, and built environment, increased access to care, and improved care coordination. Promoting and supporting local resources, citizens dedicated to improving the health of harford county residents through education, policy changes, improvements in the services, and businesses that support a healthy lifestyle is a large part of our vision to help make harford county the healthiest community in maryland.
Programs: Healthy lifestyles & resources: bringing people together to promote healthy lifestyles through community partnerships and program initiatives. Initiatives include car fit safety for senior adults; expanding bike access through bike jam and bike harford; coordinating hcps school wellness initiatives through targeted student programs; participation with united way's project homeless connect; developing project healthy connect addressing underserved areas in the community. Community partnerships for health: healthy harford seeks community partnerships for health and wellness including harford and cecil county health department and the local health improvement coalition. This includes development of an integrated behavioral health crisis system; suicide prevention programs (qpr training); substance exposed newborns and naloxone training; obesity prevention including cycling infrastructure, pain management and movement; tobacco/vaping prevention, smoking cessation classes, and smoke-free ho
