Mission: Healing the Children Northeast is a volunteer, non profit organization whose purpose is to help children throughout the world receive medical care unavailable to them due to lack of medical and financial resources or health insurance. Children are provided these services through three basic programs. Our Stateside Program has treated over 6000 children alone. Healing the Children locates doctors and hospitals in the US willing to donate their services, provides host family homes for the children and provides round trip airfare (which includes an escort) for each child.
We also serve children in the US and to date hundreds of children in our local communities have been given a chance for a brighter future. Health providers are located to provide medical services to children who qualify for this program. Additionally, advocacy services are provided to children who lack proper health insurance coverage and need specialized medical care. Close to 3,000 children have received services through this program.
Our surgical teams to developing nations perform on-site surgery to people in need. Training and teaching programs established by our visiting physicians and nurses have enabled our organization to provide medical treatment to more than 70,000 patients worldwide. Approximately 15-15 medical teams are organized yearly. Our volunteers travel to different countries at the invitation of a host clinic, hospital or institution where they work collaboratively with local personnel to provide quality care. Since 1985, when we were founded, close to 85,000 patients have been served through our programs and the combined efforts of thousands of volunteers throughout the US and abroad.
We are one of 13 Chapters nationwide.
