We've encouraged use of the online Lunch with a Scientist videos in our classrooms as ways to get the kids engaged in science career paths they might not have thought about before
The research experiences are the missing piece of science education where kids can think through their questions and actually do work in the fields hands-on
A friend told me about the Headwaters Science Institute and I am so impressed with their work! When I was younger, my favorite subjects were various sciences that I had to take in elementary school up through college and I absolutely love that they conduct girls camps where young girls can learn about science research and feel inspired to pursue careers in science related fields. Everyone I have spoken with from Headwaters has been very kind and passionate about their work. I can’t wait to see what the future holds for this organization!
I love this organization. We've used their online resources in the science video library and I just can never believe that is a free service!
My child participated in a camp this summer and came back a science fan. Great programs for all students.
Headwaters works hard to offer kids of all backgrounds and income levels high quality and engaging opportunities to see what science is all about.
From it's inception Headwaters has maintained the vision that science is important and there are better ways to engage young people in science. It's an organization which can fluidly change with the times and continue the mission of creating informed, curious citizens who are literate in science. Headwaters students often pursue careers in science.
I have observe Headwaters Science Institute succeed in expanding exceptional student engagement with the processes of Science in the classroom setting, in field camps, and on virtual-online classes and interactive lectures. Their skill at stimulating and developing the young potential scientifically attuned mind is exemplary. I've been impressed enough to join and make my career of experience at UC Davis available in there Board of Directors.
Headwaters Science Institute is one of the best non-profits that I have had the opportunity to work with. I believe in their mission of encouraging women and underprivileged in learning and doing science. The organization is run incredibly well and there is no wasted money.
Many non-profits roll their money into programs to raise more money to pay a bloated staff. HSI use most of their money for programs. When COVID shut down their field camps, they moved into online instruction and project support. They are always thinking about how they best can support kids who will be our future scientists and researchers.
Overall, they do a great job!
Headwaters has pivoted from FTF science education towards remote education at such a high level. The individual summer and fall programming is exceptional well designed to support student driven research, pairing students with mentors and achieving their goals in this remote environment.
Headwaters is an awesome non-profit that does a great job of connecting students with scientists and helping students conduct original scientific research. The mentorship and experience collecting data students gain during the Headwaters program is truly something special.
Headwaters is a well-run top tier organization. Headwaters creates and delivers innovative and challenging science education online, on site, and at schools.
Headwaters Science Institute's methods are nontraditional in the best kind of way! This organization is focused on changing the way science looks; actually getting kids outside to learn science through experiences in the real world. In my experience, that type of teaching is WAY more effective than traditional in-class methods. Way to go Headwaters for the great work you are doing!
Headwaters Science Institute is an absolutely amazing nonprofit to be part of, whose message strongly resonates with me. They provide a high-quality science experience to the younger generations in a country that continues to neglect the needs for a high quality public education. Exposing a new path for the youth to follow, especially in lower-income areas, can be life-changing, speaking from someone who has grown up in an impoverished area. Science education is a crucial component to foster an educated and innovative society. HSI truly makes a difference.
