Mission: Hawaii island community development corporation was established on july 7, 1986 to provide families with low and moderate income with adequate housing and to acquire, construct, and provide housing and related facilities suited to the special needs and living requirements of eligible occupants.
Programs: Hicdc has been developing self help housing since 1992. Through 2017 hicdc has worked with low income self help builders to complete 330 homes almost all of which are on the island of hawaii. In 2017 hicdc and nine self help families completed the hpp5 project in keaau and was in the process of constructing a 30 lot self help housing subdivision in pepeekeo. This later project is being financed by the hauoli mau loa foundation, a 501c3 non-profit organization
