Nonprofit Overview

Mission: The mission of HAR is to contribute through all its actions to diminish the number of abandoned animals (dogs and cats) in Romania, fact that has reached a worrying quota in our country due to the indifference and lack of responsibility of people together with the apathy and lack of action on behalf of authorities in issuing the legislation making a difference in this sense.

But there it is this small and heart-full organization that never ends to saving distressed animals and provide them with care as well as finding them wonderful homes abroad . Please join me in supporting this great non-profit, please visit their sites and give a hand, write a review or drop a small donation which immensely counts for the happiness of these strays!

Hello :-) In January this year we adopted our first romanian dog. HAR were brilliant in making this happen for our Aran. His rescue required careful organizing and special pooling of resources, because he was still on the end of a chain when we decided to to help him. HAR kept us up to date on the progress all throughout our time of waiting. They also were brilliant with organizing vet checks, neutering , all passport preparations and finally his transport to the UK, so Aran could begin his journey to a happy, loved & secure future. Because this was our first experience with romanian dog rescue we were grateful for all the help and guidance we received. Because Aran was a chain dog he needed special care when he arrived and HAR also guided us through how to best deal with his bahavioural needs. Their help and advice was of greatest value. And within only one week Aran changed from the most scared and confused dog we had ever seen to the happy, content and much loved dog he is today. Would we adopt again through HAR? YES! Would we become volunteers? YES! HAR are doing a brilliant job and their love for animals is without bounds. They also support causes from other rescues not only their own. HAR are well worth supporting. Many, many Thanks HAR for all your help and support you give to animals and humans. xxx

I came across the HAR site online and saw all of the beautiful dogs posted on there. I live in the United States, so I never thought I'd be able to rescue one, but figured I would at least try. I wrote the ladies of HAR and they told me it was possible to get a dog from Romania to the US, and then went above and beyond and did all of the leg work that comes with getting the dogs we picked out ready for shipping, and hooking us up with transport and help from the US rescue group RAR. Not to mention they answered all of my questions, on each of the dogs I was interested in, so they were constantly getting in contact with other voulnteers to get more information on certain dogs. They were a pleasure to work with and now my cousin and me have two beautiful Romanian dogs here in Minnesota, USA!!! Thank you for helping us get Pici and Ben here. We appreciate everything you've done to help us and the dogs of Romania!

I lived and worked in Romania for 4 years. I was appalled at the treatment of animals and the amount of strays, abandoned puppies & cats. I decided to dedicate myself to animal welfare and partnered with several other charities until a group of us started HAR. Tirelessly we worked only to save and find adoptive homes for animals. It was a pleasure to see the animals being adopted but still it seemed like a drop in the bucket. I am now living in Canada and supporting HAR from abroad. This charity is squeaky clean. No money is used for anything but animal welfare. The small group of people are dedicated, very caring people and want nothing but to ensure animals' suffering is alleviated. I strongly promote this charity and can vouch personally for its reputation.

HAR means a hand of restless people volunteering their time for the welfare of stray animals in Romania. Through HAR there were hundreds of deserted and tormented animals )dogs and cats) that found their place under the sun, near people who have chosen to get them as their life companions in Europe. Gerlinde is our wonderful "home-finder" and she has now the hearts of many, many adopted animals next to her :).

We need your donations so that we can help many other more animals to find a good life. Please don't ignore their cry for help! Many thanks.

. HAR’s vision’s is to minimize the birth of unwanted animals through sterilization. We try also to inform people to castrate their own dogs and not to throw away the unwished puppies and kittens.
Our purpose is to foster and find adoptive homes for dogs & cats and to generally alleviate suffering by providing medical care.
HAR also tries to involve pupils to take care of dogs and cats to be educated how they should treat an animal! .
