Programs: Public participation grant - hanford challenge works for the public's interest through our public involvement program by: 1) working to influence hanford cleanup policy so that it will protect human health and the environment through collaboration with diverse hanford stakeholders and through the hanford advisory board and 2) improving how the public is involved with hanford cleanup decision-making by advising the doe, epa and the wa department of ecology on their involvement process and also providing information to the public through events, newsletters and our website.
whistleblower and worker support program - hanford challenge supports hanford workers who speak up about important safety, health and environmental concerns. In 2013 we helped 18 whistleblowers, including three top level managers from hanford's waste treatment plant, and provided representation, advocacy, counseling and personal assistance to these courageous and ethical employees, as well as gaining national attention and federal investigations for their safety concerns.
hanford advisory board - a hanford challenge staff member is chairwoman of the public involvement committee of the hanford advisory board, which provides informed recommendations and advice to the u. S. Department of energy, the u. S environmental protection agency, and the washington department of ecology on selected major policy issues related to the cleanup of the hanford site.
