Mission: Hands for peacemaking foundation's mission is to assist people living in extreme poverty in the nw highland area of rural guatemala to become self-sufficient. This is accomplished through training in agriculture, establishment or improvement of water supply, sanitation, cooking methods and building schools for the youth.
Programs: Six volunteer groups consisting of 70 total volunteers from north america traveled to guatemala to assist villagers in 25 villages, installed 352 highly efficient aler stoves for cooking and heating, built 7 latrines, built a four classroom school in one village, four water systems in three villages consisting of two 2500 liter water tanks per system with catchment and filter systems and in two villages planted gardens.
provide 100 student desks with chair, 4 teacher desks with chair, and whiteboard for each classroom in the four classrooms. Distribute teaching and school supplies to various villages with schools.
