It has been 15 years since I began interpreting at the clinic. Throughout that time I had noticed the patients are so appreciative of the services the Guadalupe Free Clinic offers. The volunteers are always so kind and want to help. Many times we have met with challenges but by the grace of Our Lady of Guadalupe they are always over come the next day! The clinic has grown in great lengths I feel in part because the patients feel comfortable coming and then tell there friends.
Our parents retired to Colonial Beach in 2002 and became parishioners at St. Elizabeth of Hungary parish.
They were particularly glad when Fr. Magat created the clinic as it gave them a very meaningful way to volunteer to help those in need. Equally important, the clinic gave them the opportunity to put their faith into good works as they believed the clinic provided help to those with medical needs but also to those in need of spiritual works. They were very grateful for the opportunity to help, very proud of the work performed to help so many people in need, and excited to see how it grew.
They are no longer able to volunteer but their love for the clinic has been passed on to us as we are now volunteers. And we too are equally proud of the help the clinic provides and grateful for the opportunity the clinic provides us to put our faith into good works.
I have volunteered here a few times so far as an intake nurse. I am very impressed by how well organized and how well staffed the clinic is. Everyone is very thorough and respectful in treating the clients and making the necessary referrals and following up. We have two Spanish translators who do a wonderful job. The clinic is well stocked with current supplies. Folks are friendly and as a volunteer you are made to feel welcome and appreciated. I am grateful for this opportunity.
As a volunteer at Guadalupe Free Clinic, I have witnessed firsthand the incredible compassion and dedication of the doctors and nurses and others who volunteer their time. They go beyond providing medical services, forming genuine relationships with patients and ensuring that each individual feels welcomed and cared for. The clinic offers services with dignity, never rushing patients, and always treating them with respect. It’s truly a place where healthcare is delivered with heart."
This is a great non-profit where the community really benefits from the services provided. The team is very friendly and everyone is on a mission to serve the patients and foster a caring patient-centered environment. The clinic has experienced tremendous growth since I started helping out in 2019. I greatly enjoy volunteering here.
I love volunteering at GFC! That's why I'm still going after over 4 years. The satisfaction I feel with helping others is immence. Knowing we do everything we can to help out patients and treating them as family makes my heart happy. The staff is amazing and work extremely well together. They make walking through the doors a joy every time. I've volunteered at many places over the years and GFC is my absolute favorite place to donate a part of myself!
Have worked about 12 years with the Quadalupe clinic. Given its mission - providing health care to a non English speaking population, involve coordination with both health care providers and a Hispanic liason team (especially translators). In those 12 years they have expanded their medical mission, expanding into preventative services (especially aggressive vaccine programs). The leadership team has successfully integrated with the regular medical community, obtaining all important access to specialists.
But most importantly, the staff seems to really care and become personally invested in the lives of our patients. The appreciation of the Hispanic community is especially heartwarming.
Serving the poor and medically-uninsured for nearly 20 years, the Guadalupe Free Clinic (GFC) continues to provide life-saving services to the residents of Westmoreland County and the Town of Colonial Beach, Virginia. More than just a free clinic, the GFC is an evangelization outreach of the Catholic Church under the Catholic Diocese of Arlington. From volunteers to patients to staff, the GFC resonates with a spirit of service, joy and charity for those who struggle to access quality health care.
I've been a volunteer at the Clinic for over 15 years and have witnessed great things! They have saved lives! They support the patients with free medical, dental, medications, and behavioral health. Without the Clinic, many patients would have no where to go and may not be around today, especially with all the chronic diseases they have. Many come to the Clinic for the fist time because they don't feel well and they find out they have been diabetic for years. The Clinic treats them and provides free medications! The Clinic is a lifesaver in the remote Northern Neck area of Virginia!
