Causes: International, International Relief
Mission: Our mission is to teach free, hands-on modern agriculture to rural villagers of Sierra Leone. Our courses include practical classes on our farm in addition to classroom learning. We're incorporating women - the most overlooked villagers - by teaching them the knowledge necessary to then teach their fellow village members our techniques.
Results: Our first class of graduated women that we have taught are now operating their own farm - with yields greater and healthier than they have ever seen. We are in our first season, so this first class of women is now learning more in-depth farming practices so that they will be able to teach subsequent FBO's (farm-based organizations).
Target demographics: empower locals with modern agriculture techniques
Direct beneficiaries per year: 32 local women to maximize their crop yields.
Geographic areas served: the rural villages of Sierra Leone in Western Africa
Programs: comprehensive, hands-on classes from land preparation to storage and preservation.
