Causes: Food, Food Programs
Mission: Our mission is gardening for hunger relief by growing communities that matter. The Chandra's Hope Gardens for GFF reclaims unused land in community gardens, commercial spaces, schools, and private partners to grow and glean fresh locally grown produce for the daily meal services that support emergency hunger relief.
Results: The Chandra's Hope Gardens for GFF grew and distributed 3600 lbs. to LIFT UP/Extended Table, Garfield Senior Programs, and Feed My Sheep from 7/2015 - 10/2015. The organization has increased our garden space from 925 sq. ft in 2015 to 1225 sq. ft. in 2016, and will add another recipient agency to support fresh produce in meals to homeless teens from 14 - 21.
Target demographics: Chandra's Hope Gardens for Growing Food Forward increases nutrient dense produce in the daily meal service programs to improve body, mind, and spirit for those in need.
Direct beneficiaries per year: 380 individuals, and 3 local human services agencies.
Geographic areas served: We grow fresh produce for the emergency hunger relief agencies in the Roaring Fork and Grand River Valleys located in Colorado's Western Slope.
Programs: Our volunteers use their passion for gardening to grow food for hunger relief.
