Mission: Groundwork providence, inc. Works to develop healthy, sustainable, and green communities for all. The organization believes that the fight for social and economic justice is intimately connected to the well-being of our shared urban environment. The organization's programs are designed to help low-income and underserved populations develop their role as stewards of their own environment and their futures.
Programs: Adult job training program - groundwork providence's adult environmental job training programs give participants in-depth and comprehensive training in the skills they need to lauch careers in brownfield remediation or sustainable landscaping.
trees 2020 - trees 2020 is an initiative of groundwork providence and the city of providence to plant 40,000 trees by the year 2020 through outreach, below-market tree sales and a non-profit tree nursery.
groundcorp - hires sucessful graduates of our sustainable landscaping for a 8 week paid hands-on training.
providence neighborhood planting program (pnpp) - a tree planting program providing free street trees to providence neighborhoods. Green teams - groundwork providence's green team program provides youth development and employment opportunities for high school students in inner-city areas of providence.
