Mission: Groundwork, inc supports the development of powerful youth, families and communities so that all young people in the communities where we work have access to a ranger of opportunities to lead a rewarding and fulfilling life.
Programs: Groundwork for youth - an after-school and summer academy for elementary and middle school students with a strong focus on literacy instruction. Groundwork for youth students gain an average of 2. 6 months of reading achievement during summer months. On average, students from low-income, urban communities lose 3 months of reading achievement over summer months. Groundwork for success - a four-year college preparation, youth employment, and leadership development program for high school students. 100% of groundwork for success scholars graduate high school. East new york has an average graduation rate of less than 40%. Support services consist of: single stop - provides families with critical servicesincluding public benefits advocacy, legal assistance, and financial counseling, free of charge and without appointment. Family resource center (frc) provides individuals, group and family counseling, crisis intervention and family support programs.
