Mission: Gosa's purpose is to: protect and preserve open space and water resources in southeastern ct; provide public access for passive recreation; educate the public on behalf of open space and clean water.
Programs: Acquisition related activities. Gosa was a cooperator with the state of connecticut department of energy and environmental protection for the purchase of the 201 acre candlewood hill wildlife management area. Gosa contributed 15% of the total purchase price. The remaining funds came from the ct deep recreation and natural heritage trust program.
general stewardship of land. Gosa pays for maintenance of the haley farm state park fields to prevent reversion to forests. Gosa maintains trails at the state of connecticut owned candlewood hill wildlife management area. Gosa maintains four fee simple properties with fields, trails, forests and one fee simple coastal shoreline property.
support for ongoing public access to properties. This mission area supports keeping gosa properties open for public access.
