Causes: Environment, Natural Resources Conservation & Protection
Mission: To create a city in better balance with the natural world by making significant and measurable improvements in the way we, in newton, use resources.
Programs: Continue the two year program, which began in 2015, to complete 1,000 mass save home energy assessments for residents of the city of newton. The goal was surpassed in october 2016.
providing environmental education - at our greening our community series bringing environmental speakers to the newton free library. Sponsoring our students for a greener world programs. Our school outreach program focused on waste reduction, agriculture, garden and food initiatives. Green newton also provided grant funding to the environmental science program, "envirothon" and to bike newton.
support for/collaboration with newton solar initiatives to assist residents of newton with the education and installation of rooftop solar arrays.
