Causes: Recreational Clubs, Sports
Mission: The organization's purpose is to develop and promote interest in rug hooking to maintain high standards and encourage creativity in this art form. It strives to provide the means for an exchange of ideas among members of the organization and to promote educational activities to enhance the interest in and the quality of rug hooking.
Programs: The guild normally presents an biennial rug hooking show. This year's show was held october 15-19, 2014 at the champlain valley expo with attendance of 1,800.
in july 2014 the organization presented a "hook in". This is a couple of days of special workshops and classes attended by approx. 77 people.
the organization held a fall meeting october 11, 2014 which also featured lectures on rug hooking. This meeting was attended by a total of 70 people. There also was a spring meeting april 12,2014 attended by 78 people.
in 2006 the guild instituted the annual patty yoder scholarship. The purpose of the scholarship is to encourage experienced rug hookers to develop their art. The scholarship pays the scholar's fees to attend an advanced workshop. In 2014 2 scholarships were awarded.
the organization annually promotes rug hooking by giving away rug hooking kits free of charge. In 2014 the guild gave away 17 kits to children and adults.
