Mission: GWCCS was founded by Washington-area members of the National Coalition for Cancer Survivorship (NCCS) in 1988 as an associate member of NCCS. In 1998, GWCCS became an independent 501(c)(3) organization. GWCCS, a strong independent voice for local survivors, is comprised of survivors, their families and friends, oncology and social work professionals, and health care organizations. Working with local hospitals and support groups, GWCCS provides critical information and personal contacts to survivors, particularly those who are newly-diagnosed and those in the minority community.
