Programs: Greater dwight development corporation (gddc) has engaged in a variety of community building activities:-the gddc became the owner of dwight place, the first community-owned supermarket-anchored (shaw's) shopping center in connecticut, on september 30, 1998. The gddc has been engaged in the critical, yet unglamorous, work of managing the shopping center to provide all of its businesses with the chance of success. The center became fully leased in 1999, and the gddc developed an adjacent 17,000 square foot parcel in 2013 which added additional retail to the shopping center. -gddc completed a $3. 2 million dollar complex to house the montessori school on edgewood, an early education and care facility, and gddc offices training space. Occupied in october of 2006, the school, created by gddc, is now operational serving up to 58 children ranging in age from six weeks to five years. -gddc implemented an afterschool program for former montessori school on edgewood students and neighborhood youth ages 5-9. Curricular focus is on science, technology and math. Classes are offered 5 days a week for 2-5 hours per day.
