Causes: Education, Scholarships, Scholarships & Student Financial Aid
Mission: GRASP will help students and their families, regardless of their financial resources and at no charge to them, develop an educational plan:
Target demographics: students and families with the financial aid process and scholarships so students can make their higher education goals a reality.
Direct beneficiaries per year: over 8,000 individual students
Geographic areas served: High schools in Virginia (111)
Programs: GRASP places trained financial aid advisors in high schools and other venues in Central Virginia to assist students and their families develop an educational plan for after high school. This plan for post-secondary education may include attendance at a 4 year college, a 2year college, or a trade school. GRASP financial aid advisors assist students in completing the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) and obtain other financial aid in order to work toward their goal of attaining a post-secondary degree. Through the in-school advising program, GRASP also identifies students in need and awards "last dollar" scholarships to help offset the cost of education that is not met by the schools.
