Mission: Grayson county alliance's mission is to reach out to help the citizens of grayson county, kentucky by providing services that are otherwise not available. This is done by providing blended and accessible human services that will enable needy people to progress toward self-sufficiency, stability and safety.
Programs: The alliance food pantry is the only program in the county which offers usda commodities, commodity supplemental food program (csfp) foods, and backpack food services for school children deemed at risk. If the alliance could not provide these services, there would be many people in grayson county going to bed hungry every night. In 2017, the food pantry provided food and like services to 5,495 people and sponsored an average of 259 children in the backpack program.
the furniture program is also a free service program for grayson county residents. This program obtains furniture from apartment and hotel managers, furniture stores and outlets, and the general public and distributes the donated furniture to needy families. The alliance also buys new beds and bedding to satisfy a large need in the community to have individual beds for children who otherwise sleep on floors or couches. In 2017, 125 households were served by the furniture program.
