Mission: Grass lake sanctuary is a dynamic, volunteer-led organization made up of hundreds of caring health practitioners and community volunteers whose mission is to empower individuals and families living with the essential elements needed to achieve healthy, balanced family lifestyles. Our current emphasis is on breast cancer survivors and their families, and the general community, where we give participants the confidence, knowledge and motivation they need to rejuvenate their physical, emotional, social and spiritual health through immersion retreat experiences.
Programs: See schedule o grass lake sanctuary's women's wellness retreat program serves women breast cancer survivors in the southeast michigan area with an emphasis on those who are low-income and under-served. The program addresses the sense of isolation and disconnect that can follow medical treatment by cultivating a deep sense of connection and belonging among program participants. Survivors benefit from the health and longevity impacts of connecting to others, getting outdoors, eating better and exercising more often, and therapeutic massage. By reconnecting with themselves and others, their bodies and the natural environment, we increase quality of support, increase breast health, and reduce cancer risk. (cont'd on schedule o) our ongoing year-round community program starts with a 2-day "integration retreat model" as an experiential gateway into action that leads to breast health and risk-reduction. It is designed to relieve stress, energize, empower and rejuvenate breast cancer survivors. This immersion program teaches survivors to integrate healthy choices and connections into a new lifestyle as follow-up to standard hospital care.
