Programs: Grandmother project (gmp) develops community programs in west africa to improve the education, health and protection of women and children, especially girls, which build on positive culture roles and values. Gmp's unique approach actively involves elders, especially grandmothers, an abundant and underutilized resource to promote the well-being of low socio-economic women and children. Gmp's activities are primarily in senegal and to a lesser extent in benin, sierra leone and mauritania. Our mission is to build the capacity of other pvos to integrate grandmother- inclusive and intergenerational approaches into their community programs by providing them with training, materials and follow-up support.
