Nonprofit Overview

Causes: Health, Philanthropy, Philanthropy, Charity & Voluntarism Promotion

Mission: Our mission at Gracie's Gowns is to provide children that are chronically ill with something fun and personal to wear while staying in the hospital or undergoing therapies and treatments in which they are not able to wear their own clothing.

Results: As of our last count at the end of October 2014, Gracie's Gowns has received over 1,756 individual requests for gowns through our online request form (this does not count called in requests or entries with multiple children together). Gowns have been sent across the United States reaching all of the 50 states and have also been sent to 9 countries! We are still updating our pin map, but you can see all of the gowns we've mailed out as we update it here. We have completed and mailed 1,362 requested gowns and we have donated in total 1,552 gowns including gowns to 7 different hospitals.

Target demographics: Children under the age of eighteen diagnosed with chronic or life-threatening illnesses.

Direct beneficiaries per year: Approximately 800

Geographic areas served: Worldwide

Programs: We provide these homemade hospital gowns at no cost to the children and their families at no cost. When a child outgrows, loses or damages their gown and it can no longer be worn, Gracie's Gowns will make the child another gown at no cost to the family. This is our "Grow with Me Gown Request" program. We will also establish a program for the siblings of the children a gown is requested for that recognizes their bravery, love and support of their sibling, but also gives them something of their own...something that makes them feel special as well. This program will be Freckles the Frog and, as soon as, we are able to, this will be a no-cost program for each child that we have made a gown for siblings. For families that have lost a child prior to their gown request being fulfilled, we have created an "Angel Bear Gown" program. Gracie's Gowns will make a gown with the child's name and a pair of angel wings attached to the gown. This gown will then be placed on a stuffed animal (we've used bears and rabbits so far) and mailed to the family. Other fun and supportive services will be provided by Gracie's Gowns as our donations allow, this may include granting a special wish for a child, financial assistance with final expenses (to include medical bills, headstone expenses and memorial/burial costs), gift cards to assist with travel costs to receive treatment.

Gracie's Gown's is so wonderful! They made my son a gown when they first started. He loves it, even for routine office visits he wants to wear it! The quality is remarkable and just looking at it lifts our spirits. We couldn't. We couldn't more grateful for someone who is so selfless and cares about families and kids so much!

I can't say enough good things about Gracie's Gowns! I came across this organization almost 3 years ago when my son was preparing to have open heart surgery. I did not get my request in soon enough for him to have his gown for his surgery (my own fault) but we received it just in time for his hernia surgery and his throat surgery. Having his own gown, covered in Mickey Mouse, with his name on it made more difference than you might think. This organization goes above and beyond in every single way. Everyday I'm seeing another amazing way they are helping people across the country and the globe. I have seen more kindness and generosity come out of this one woman, her family and supporters, than I have over years in many people. It literally makes my heart overflow. I think the best part may actually be that you truly can tell that Jessica sincerely cares about every child, and their family, that come across her computer or her mailbox.

My daughter has been frequently hospitalized for health issues and it is a scary experience for a little one. The gowns at the hospital are ill fitting and not very cheery. The beautiful and personal gown provided by Gracie's has been a great comfort to her. She loves it! What an amazing organization. So grateful.

Gracie's Gowns continues to grow and branch out every year since they first came into my life. There is no quit in their humble and incredibly amazing founder. No task is too big despite the obstacles they've faced. Lesser hearts would have thrown in the towel long ago, but not her and that is truly inspiring.

My daughters hospital gown was one of the few things she was able to wear in the NICU with all the wires and tubes. So thankful for that amazing memory. She was adorable in her gown

I've had the honor to volunteer with Gracie's Gowns. Jessica is an amazing director and truly cares for each child she makes a gown for. I've watched Gracie's Gowns grow from a thought to what it is today and it has been amazing to watch.

Gracie's Gowns also educates others about childhood illnesses. It is a subject most people try not to think about but Jessica does an amazing job of putting a face and story to an illness.
