When being in the hospital for another admission becomes you life you try and make the best of it. Then there’s another admission and another, a birthday, Easter, Halloween, Christmas, soon there are more days in the hospital than out of the hospital. You do what you can to make the best of it. The staff know you and they try to make your stay a little easier. But every time you go in you lose a little of yourself.m, you lose a little more dignity. When Gracies Gowns came into our lives it was just a gown or something to wear at another admission, it was dignity. Jessica gave my daughter back a piece of her life that had been chipped away more and more with each admission. She now walks the hall with a new level of pride and confidence in her Gracies Gowns. She doesn’t lose herself when in the hospital, she isn’t just another patient, she is Allie and they see her. Gracies Gown filled a piece of Allie’s life that we saw was missing but couldn’t phantom a way to give it back. Who know a gown would be so magical? Gracies Gowns are just that. They allow Allie to stand a little taller, more confident and ready to tackle the trial ahead of her. Thank you Jessica for providing that missing piece.
Gracie’s Gowns made my son a beautiful Mickey Mouse themed hospital gown. They were his favorite and he absolutely loved it. They did this for free, such a kindness and spot of happiness for a family going through trauma. When my son passed they floated a beautiful lantern in his honor. I don’t know these people and they went out of their way to show us compassion, understanding and care.
This organization sent my sweet Noah and comfy gown in a Mickey Mouse print (his favorite) for his hospital stays. After he passed at the age of 12 they created a float to honor Noah along with the other recipients who has passed. I don't know the people from this organization personally, I live across the country, but they honored my child in such a meaningful way. I feel blessed by them.
I had ordered a gown for my daughter before her open heart surgery at Boston Childrens Hospital. Unfortunately my daughter went into heart failure earlier than surgery date and we were admitted a month earlier. My daughter earned her angel wings a month after her surgery. The gown I order was sent to the hospital and was returned to Jessica since we were no longer there. Jessica called me to see why the gown was returned and I told her that Lacey earned her wings. She was speechless and asked for my address. In the mail I received a stuffed teddy bear with a hospital gown on with Lacey’s name beautifully embroidered on it. We cherish the bear every day! Jessica know helps us to keep Lacey’s legacy alive at Boston Childrens Hospital every year and makes various gifts with our LaceyStrong logo on them for The kids in the CICU. We love Gracie’s Gowns! My daughter has been in the hospital 7 times in the last year and we love having her personalized gown. All the doctors and nurses also love it. While yes it is cute it is also very easy to put on and take off quickly. We love the no mettle so it is easy for X-rays and other procedures. We have also purchased an adorable back pack they altered to work with our feeding pump. I love the size is big enough for her pump, food and a few diapers and wipes for quick trips to places. I would (and do!) highly recommend to all medical families.
Gracies Gowns has been such a blessing in our lives for our daughter. Sophia has had to have 8 surgeries so far and a few more to go, and she isn’t even 2 years old yet. We got our first gown for her 3rd open heart surgery when she was 6 months old. It helped us feel a little more normal being able to dress her in something from home that was special just to her. Since then she’s worn her gown for every surgery, and we always bring it with us for check ups so she can be comfy. They are almost like a security blanket for her.
We love this non-profit, and continue to support as much as we can by getting other items to help make gowns for other kids.
My 3 year old daughter, Riley, was born with a serious congenital heart defect and needs to have her third open heart surgery soon. We came across Gracie’s Gowns by seeing what they do for families like ours first hand. We requested a gown recently and through sponsorship we received a beautiful personalized hospital gown! Riley loves her gown, it’s her favorite colors and it has her name embroidered on it. She also loves her pillow case that came in the package as well. My daughter has many appointments and hospital visits where she used to have to wear a hospital gown that was uncomfortable and didn’t fit her appropriately.
She now has 3 Gracie’s gowns that she wears. They are perfect! The gowns give her more dignity and fit as they should. I also know that she is the only child that has worn the gowns and for us that’s important. They are washed and cleaned to my standards and not handled by a lot of strangers that could potentially introduce her to harmful germs.
Above all they are embroidered with her name and are cute patterns that interest her. Most importantly she loves them!!

This non profit is absolutely amazing! Im blown away! Not only did they make a gown in a print I picked for my 8 year old daughter getting monthly infusions in the hospital, but they embroidered her name and sent other small gifts in the box! She is elated over the beauty and the beast print and everything sent! I cannot thank them enough for the joy they bring to our kids!
My niece has a rare form of genetically inherited rickets and is often in the hospital for testing. Marlee’s height is affected by her condition and normal child size gowns were way too long and big. Jessica made Marlee a gown that exactly her size and Marlee fell in love with it. She takes it whenever she has testing and it gives her a sense of comfort during her stays.

My girl LOVES her gown! Shes the most fabulous one at the hospital and is constantly getting compliments. These gowns are so versatile and convenient since they don't have metal parts so they can be used for scans/xrays as well as admissions. They had a ton of prints to choose from as well! We don't have alot of $ to spend on these cute things but they had a varying degree of prices so we were able to afford one! Almost a year in and we still love our gown!

Jessica has, for six years, made gowns for children with chronic or life threatening illnesses. She recruited many volunteers to help. I would love to sew too, but Texas is too far for me to go over and help. I do support this endeavor in prayer and financially as I can.
We received two gowns from Gracie's Gowns. My son was born with a severe heart condition that ended up putting us in need of heart transplant after almost a year of fighting. The gown was such a bright and cheery gift and functional too. Something that made the hospital a little less hospitaly. Even when my son passed away and his second gown was in the process of being made they turned it into an angel gown with a sweet teddy bear wearing it. Such a kind thing for a grieving family to receive.

Years ago, I was looking up a way to get a custom gown for my cousin who was in and out of the hospital since her birth. I stumbled across this site and figured I would give it a chance to see if we could get her one. Lo and behold, we got a package in the mail with her customized gown which she was excited to use if she was ever admitted again.
She was admitted again but for a transplant, which she was able to take her own gown to wear and make her feel like a princess. Since the service of Gracie's Gowns and Jessica's work into this movement have had such a profound impact on me and my cousin, I have been donating. To us, it's just a gown, but to each child and family who receives this gift, it's a small spark of personality and life into what can be a dull and long waiting period away from home.
My daughter has been in and out of the hospital for the last 3 & 1/2 years because of chronic medical issues. Gracie’s gowns has made two gowns for us so far and they are completely treasured. The hospital is a hard place to be, especially for a young child, but her gown brings her a tremendous amount of comfort. My daughter has been frequently hospitalized for health issues and it is a scary experience for a little one. The gowns at the hospital are ill fitting and not very cheery. This is so amazing my little one would freak when he would end up in the hospital. But when we got him is own gown he was so excited he wanted to always wear it. This is such an amazing company. My 2 year old spends so much time in the hospital every year. I wish i had found this sooner. Hospital gowns are uncomfortable, huge, and a strangle hazard with little kids. It is hard to find regular clothing that can be worn during an mri, be warm, be easily removed to change soiled outfits. These gowns are a comfort during an otherwise miserable experiance in hospitals
Gracie's Gowns is a non profit organization that provides custom hospital gowns for children in the hospital. How do I know? My son, Finn, was born with heart disease enduring 10 surgeries, one open heart surgery and an 8 month hospital stay. When founder Jessica surprised us during a very dark time with a beautiful, custom hospital gown for Finn, it was a day of light and hope. No longer did we feel as though we were a heart patient. We now smiled and felt a sense of normalcy and a sense of happiness. Those moments are rare and we are so grateful.
Gracie's Gowns beyond deserves this win and grant of $10,000. With that contribution, the entire company changes and for the better. The amount of children and families that can be blessed the way that we were is a tremendous opportunity. It would change lives.

Our son, Hudson, was born with a congenital heart defect, he spent the first 6 months of his life in a hospital. He wasn't allowed to wear clothes because of all the monitors and tubing.
That's where Gracie's gowns stepped in, they offer gowns to medically fragile children enduring some of the biggest battles you could imagine. His gown had his name on it..and even though it was a just a piece of clothing, it meant so much more to us. I was so touched by the impact of his gown that I sponsored several children and donated shipping costs to this non profit on many occasions. I knew how much it meant to me, and we wanted to give that comfort to another family.
When Hudson was one year old he was diagnosed with leukemia. The impossible happened to us again. Hudson suited up for battle but it wasn't armor he donned it was a new gown from Gracie's gowns. He outgrew the one he wore as an infant. When he was his most vulnerable, unable to wear clothes because of all the lines and monitors, his gown was always waiting for him. It smelled like home because we used the same laundry detergent...it was familiar because he wore it so much, it was soft and covered in whales...his favorite animal.
I haven't met a child or parent who didn't absolutely love everything about and behind their child's personalized gown.

Gracie's Gowns is a non-profit organization that makes personalized hospital gowns for chronically-ill children across the globe. It's founder, Jessica Kidd, has evolved this organization from a community service project into a nationally recognized non-profit service. She was recently honored as a Loreal Woman of Worth in November 2016.
The Facebook fundraiser for Giving Tuesday was initiated to raise funds to replace her non-commercial embroidery machines with a tool that would truly enhance her ability to provide hospital gowns in a more efficient and cost effective manner, and would enable her to provide custom designs for each child, as unique as each one of their precious souls,
I met Jessica quite by accident on a childrens clothing trading site, and although we are many states apart and have never met in person, I am dedicated to helping her further her cause. My niece was just 4 years old when she succumbed to a brain tumor, and I will never forget the small things that made her day brighter as she fought to survive. Today in addition to monetary donations, I occasionally help to sew Bead of Courage Bags and IV bag covers from the scraps left over from the beautiful gowns she makes, as no scrap is wasted. Every one of them is a gift, and I am proud to be a part of her mission to give back and make a difference in this world.

I've had the honor to volunteer with Gracie's Gowns. Jessica is an amazing director and truly cares for each child she makes a gown for. I've watched Gracie's Gowns grow from a thought to what it is today and it has been amazing to watch.
Gracie's Gowns also educates others about childhood illnesses. It is a subject most people try not to think about but Jessica does an amazing job of putting a face and story to an illness.

Where to even begin? Our family feels like no words could truly emphasize how dear Gracie's Gowns is to our family, but blessed is at the top of that list. Our daughter, like most of Gracie's Gowns receipts, had a rough start and will have a long road because of her several Congenital defects. A road that is filled with constant hospital stays, surgeries, intervention, appointments, and weekly therapy; a life that has at times been draining and isolating. But the moment we put on her adorable hospital gown, while away from home, it just adds a special touch during a difficult time/situation. And you always know Charlotte has been there with her trail of glitter left behind. The doctors and nurses just love it!
Jessica goes above and beyond for each child; whether it is handcrafting each gown to be extra special, awareness of medical diagnose your family is facing, fundraising, or spreading cheer at her local hospitals, she is truly an angel placed here on earth for families like ours. Just the simple detail of each gown to tailor it to each child's personality/hobbies, is something a store bought item couldn't ever replicate. The moment you open the package, you know it was made and sent with a lot of love and support for your family. Gracie's Gowns reached out to me after my son, Felix, was born at UVA Hospital in Charlottesville, VA, about making him a custom hospital gown. I was floored. I had never heard of such a thing and it was such a sweet gesture! We loved Felix's gown so much. He ended up needing a trach and g-tube and the gown was so easy to get on with all of those things and all the leads and wires hooked up to him. The nurses loved it, and it was so easy to clean when he would get stains on it. Jessica actually made us two gowns--a small and larger one--and we used the larger one and the smaller one is on my older son's monkey. He sleeps with it at night, which is a great comfort to him since Felix died at 7 months old. Gracie's Gowns also made us Freckles the Frog from Felix's gown fabric.

My daughter was born at 26 weeks and needed several surgeries since discharge. When I found out about this organization it was truly amazing. What they have done and continue to do for everyone is truly a blessing. I couldn't be happier and more proud to support them!
My son was born with Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome. He is 16 months old and has spent approximately 5 of those months in the hospital for different surgeries and infections. Because of that we reached out to Gracie's Gowns to create a gown that was uniquely his. Not only did we receive a personalized gown, we received a smaller one that was able to go on one of his stuffed animals. It is organizations and people like this that make the lives of kids with chronic health conditions just that much better.
We have been supporting Gracies Gowns for a year or so now. The organization is amazing and accomplishes so much. Many large organizations could learn from this little non-profit with the HUGE heart.

I reached out to Gracies Gown when our grandaughter was born with Spina Bifida. We were so pleased when they made her cute gown. It made her many stays a bit more colorful. My daughter was born in 2014 with Down Syndrome and a complex CHD and was recently diagnosed with severe obstructive sleep apnea.
At only 15 months old she has already had 4 surgeries and spent 2 months of her life in the hospital with more surgeries, hospital stays, sleep studies, etc. on her horizon. With the help of Gracie's gowns her stays and recovery will be little brighter and less clinical.

I have been involved with making NICU gowns for Gracie's Gowns for a couple of years. It is very sobering to realize how many children are hospitalized many times in their lives. A homemade, brightly colored gown makes the day seem a little brighter.
Every day children are stuck in the hospital, same rooms, same faces, and same hospital attire. These amazingly creative gowns put a huge smile on these kids faces! I also love that they snap, so you can get them on and off with IV lines. The ladies who makes these work night and day to help these kids and expect nothing in return. What an amazing concept and product!!
Thank you so much for my son's gown. He has been in and out of the hospital with Myasthenia Gravis for the past 4 years. He has a smile on his face no mater what, but his last hospital trip was a rough on knowing he was in a MG crisis and had to be transported to another hospital via ambulance. I cannot say enough about Gracie's Gowns . My daughter was born with CHD and she also has an Auto immune disorder. She was in and out of the hospital several times . We received our Gown in 2012 and it was just perfect , it even had her name on it . We used this gown several times and even after her Open heart surgery . The nurses and doctors all loved her Gown. I recived a hospital gown in 2013 from Gracie's gowns. I LOVE it! It is so nice to have somthing that I can 'chose' to wear when I am in hospital. I would like to give a huge thanks you to Gracie's Gowns, they have made my daughters hospital Experience so much better. My daughter is an x32 week preemie, she is also a cardiac child. We have only had to use her gown once but fixen to use it again really soon. Since we have had her gown we haven't hardly had any trouble with her. She fill more comfortable at the hospitals. This is a really great nonprofit Organization, and I would highly recommend this place to anyone with children with health issues. Thanks again.
My daughter Grace Ellen was diagnosed with a rare form of lukemia a few weeks after her fourth birthday. Overnight everything changed and my daughter went from a world of fancy tutus and sparkly shoes to a world of sterile rooms and standard issue hospital gowns. When she got her Gracie's Gown it brought color and playfulness back into her life. Every time she wears it the nurses ohh and ahh over it. She loves to still be fancy when at the hospital.
The best part is that her gown is so well thought out, clearly made by someone who understands hospital life, while keeping the gown cute. It was very well made and has worn well through dozens of uses and washes. We always keep it packed in her emergency luggage so it'll be ready for its next use.

we love our down from Gracie's gowns! My son Walter was in the hospital for 10 months and underwent several surgeries to repair his esophagus. receiving his lovely, handmade, personalized Gown was so special. We told them that Walter loves animals and they chose a perfect fabric that had all of his favorite animals! And seeing his name embroidered on the sweet little gown made my eyes well up. We have since used it for some outpatient procedures and my big boy is about to grow out of it! We are so grateful for the love that went into making this lovely gown. We will keep it forever!!
My daughter is 3, She just had open heart surgery in Sept of 2014. She is in LOVE with Mickey and Minnie mouse! Gracie's gowns made her the most beautiful hospital gown with her favourite characters on it! It brightened the day after her surgery and we just treasure the pictures. Such an amazing thing to create these custom gowns for so many children! And free of charge!
My son and I just love this non profit. They made a hospital gown for my son and he loves it. Not only does he wear it to his treatments but also when he fractures. My son has brittle bones and gets treatments every three months so he wears it a lot. I am so grateful to have found them.
Gracie's Gowns has been amazing to our family and I am happy to help support their mission whenever I can. I heard about Gracie's Gowns, Inc from a fellow military family who had received a gown for their daughter. I checked out their website and was so touched that I started donating and supporting them as much as I can, whether it is donating monthly if I can or buying raffle tickets when they are offered. I will continue to support them. I love what they do for families who are going through such hard times, these gowns are giving them some sunshine where they may not be able to see any otherwise.
My child received a gown on two separate occasions, two years apart. The splash of color the hospital gowns added to the dull hospital setting was nice to see. My child name was embroidered on the gown as well which made it special. Jessica truly works from her heart when making these gowns. What a nice item to have durring a hospital stay! I recommend having a hospital gown made for your child durring a sad time, it makes them feel special. All the nurses on the floor had to come see miss amberlyn in her rock star gown!
Gracie's gown has been a blessing to my family! I have two children with multiple health issues. My son has a parlayed colon and in 2012-2014 he spent 128 days in the hospital! The gown is like a hug to him he had 26 times he had to have a test, tube replacement or surgery he said it was like his Jessica holding him tight why he was scared! My daughter has epilepsy and has a VNS she been hospitalized for that surgery and for days due to seizures. She says her gown makes her feel like a princess takes the scary part of the hospital away!
