Mission: Goodwill industries of northern new england enables persons with diverse challenges to achieve personal stability and community engagement.
Programs: Retail: with 988 employees the retail division collected over 67 million pounds of donated goods from communities throughout maine, new hampshire and northern vermont. Those goods, along with other items, were sorted, processed, priced for sale in 29 stores and two buy-the-pound outlets. Through sustainable processes that serve the well-being of people and the environment, while generating revenue of operations and goodwill-designed programs, the division attained a diversion rate in excess of 75% as it works toward zero waste goals. T-shirts and other textiles that were not in saleable condition were repurposed into industrial wiping cloths or baled and sold in the aftermarket. Items not in working condition have parts that are sold in the aftermarket, along with items not sold through retail outlets. Computer donations are sorted for their highest and best use through our good tech initiative or responsibly recycled through our partnership in dell reconnect. The retail division provides job training opportunities for our workforce services participants as appropriate.
healthcare: with 342 employees, the healthcare division served 1,326 individuals through several programs including 24/7/365 residential services, neurorehabilitation services, community integration services for the deaf, as well as prevocational and life skill programs for adults with intellectual disabilities. Staff at 23 residential programs provide safe, therapeutic housing and comfort to people with disabilities due to brain injury, adults with intellectual disabilities as well as individuals who are deaf and live with mental illness. Services under several waiver programs allow 47 individuals with brain injuries or other related conditions to remain in their homes while receiving in-home supports for activities of daily living and community integration.
workforce services: 83 employees in the workforce services division delivered services for youth and adults whose life circumstances present significant barriers to successful employment and stability. Personalized services include job connection's intensive life navigation: one-on-one guidance, coaching, training and career advising to help assure positive outcomes on-the-job that lead to the participant building a stable life. This aligns with our work with over 1,100 businesses in our region to help them meet their workforce development goals through our services. Our americorps programs (goodwill vista, granite state education corps and multilingual leadership corps) build the career capacity of the americorps members and the resiliency of communities in which the serve. With more than 46,000 visits to the info centers, our workforce services provided services for people in our region looking for jobs, including resume creation, interview preparation, as well as overall career, training and education services including intensive one-on-one support, on-the-job training, coaching and job placement referrals.
good clean property services: 75 employees, from diverse backgrounds and experiences, receive on-the-job training and supervision to deliver customized cleaning and grounds services using eco-friendly products and processes in office and retail environments covering over one million square feet. Good neighbor program: we provided 17,000 goodwill shopping vouchers ($10 each) to people in maine, new hampshire and northern vermont. Working with 120 partner agencies to augment their services and directly with individuals in cases of crisis or other disruption to personal stability, good neighbor vouchers enable individuals to purchase clothing or household items to meet their needs, in a dignified manner, as they work to build a stable life.
