Programs: The director of our san diego tm center for women earned her phd in education with a dissertation, case studies of military mothers: an exploratory mixed methods study on the effects of transcendental meditation on parenting stress. The study showed that military mothers who had practiced tm for at least 100 hours experienced increased life satisfaction, decreased sleep disorders, decreased post-traumatic disorders, and decreased overall parenting stress. The dissertation is published by the university of michigan via proquest online.
our director of tm for nurses reports that (with the availability of 23 continuing education contact hours and two maharishi university of management credits) three times as many nurses have learned the tm technique this last year than in the prior year. Six new hospital programs are in place for nurses to learn on-site, many of which offer the nurses tm tuition reimbursement.
on march 23rd, by invitation, a collaboration between tm for nurses and several faculty of chicagos loyola university participated in the distinguished speakers series held by marcella niehoff school of nursing. The tm experts presented evidence supporting the efficacy of the transcendental meditation technique to 200 nursing students and faculty. Nurses at hunterdon medical center in new jersey have undertaken a research study called: evaluating the effects of the transcendental meditation (tm) program on compassion fatigue.
