Programs: We worked in partnership with the public banking institute, a 501(c)(3) based in sonoma, ca to sponsor two national conferences on public banking in santa fe and philadelphia, and provided direct technical assistance to cities, counties, and states that were interested in public banking in detroit, santa fe, seattle, new hampshire, maine, california, washington dc, south africa, arizona, minnesota, and florida. In vermont we co-sponsored new economy week for the second year in a row and brought dr. Thomas keidel from the sparkasse banking group in germany to speak to people who were interested in public banks. In africa, the upendo moja school construction project in tanzania progressed - the walls and roof went up and a delegation of students from norwich university traveled there during the summer to assist with construction. Working in parnership with the post carbon institute, michael shuman, and the fresh sound foundation, we started the production of a workbook series on how to create more options for local investment to help local economies thrive. The workbook series has begun with a focus on vermont, and in 2015 we hope to expand to colorado, arizona, and other states. We will be launching the vermont workbook at the vermont businesses for social responsibility conference on may 13, 2015.
