Girls on the Run is a lot more than a running program. The fabulous curriculum is full of lessons important to girls of all ages on subjects including body image and bullying. Girls on the Run and Girls on Track uses running to teach girls important life lessons about setting and working toward goals and the benefits of a healthy lifestyle. The program runs twice a year in the fall and in the spring and each 12 week session ends with a 5K running event. All the teams from school sites throughout Western North Carolina all gather together to complete a 5K (3.1 miles) non-competitive road race. Nearly 600 girls, all reaching their goal one step at a time. We hope that this serves as a tool to rely on throughout life and that girls learn that by showing up and putting one foot in front of the other, you can do almost anything.
