Mission: Girls inc. Of holyoke helps transform the lives of girls. Intentionally structured to meet the specific needs of girls, our wide range of programs offer opportunities for girls to increase their capacity for resiliency, foster community involvement, strengthen their capabilities as critical thinkers and inspire life long learning. Our programs are girl-centered, community focused, and age-appropriate.
Programs: Elementary school programs - our year-round, licensed after school and summer program actively engages girls 5-12 years old in fun, learning experiences. Program highlights include academic support, science, math and related technology, health and fitness, creative arts, and literacy. Girls attend 5 days a week after school during the school year and 5 days a week from 7:30 am-5:30 pm during the summer. 69 girls enrolled throughout the year.
middle & high school programs - our youth development programs provide girls 12-18 with educational and leadership opportunities in a girl-only team environment. Girls learn the importance of self-advocacy, set goals for their future and build their capacity to be community leaders. Focus areas include: youth leadership training, health and sexuality education, peer-to-peer education, media literacy, street outreach, prevention curriculums, technology, academic tutoring, and career and college exploration. Girls 5-18 may also access mentoring that matches girls with mentors who spend quality time to inspire self-discovery and strengthen their academic performance. Over 1,000 girls are reached through one-time workshops, street outreach and regular programming.
