To date, GGE has provided over 3000 girls and boys aged 8-18 a safe place to achieve academic excellence, explore career education, maintain healthy lifestyles, and develop the confidence and self-esteem necessary to achieve their goals. In an effort to eliminate barriers faced by low-income youth of color living in impoverished areas and help them attain a better quality of life, GGE mobilizes its program participants according to the 10 points1 under Title IX of the Education Amendment and works collectively toward effecting systemic change. By including family members in the program design and holding family/student participatory events such as Parent-Child/Youth Debates, Mother/Daughter Health and Play Day, Children and Family Empowerment Day, and Gender Equity Day, GGE provides opportunities for families to strengthen bonds and for parents to take more active roles in their children's development.___________________1 Title IX of the Education Amendment of 1972, "No person in the United States shall, on the basis of sex, be excluded from participation in, be denied the benefits of, or be subjected to discrimination under any education program or activity receiving Federal financial assistance" (Title IX of the Education Amendments of 1972 to the Civil Rights Act of 1964). 10 key points: Access to Higher Ed, Athletics, Career Education, Education for Pregnant and Parenting Students, Employment, Learning Environment, Math and Science, Sexual Harassment, Standardized Testing and Technology.
