Causes: Children & Youth, Girl Scouts of the U.S.A.
Mission: The girl scouts is the premier leadership organization for girls to build courage, confidence and character. At three million strong, the girl scouts is the largest girl-serving organization in the united states. In girl scouts, girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Girl scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others. Our council serves approximately 9,644 girls and 4,194 volunteers throughout the delmarva peninsula.
Programs: Girl programs - 2,424 girls participated in a myriad of enriching experiences, such as stem programming, extraordinary field trips, sports skill-building clinics, community service projects, cultural exchanges, and environmental stewardships throughout the delmarva peninsula.
product program - 5,877 girls participated in the largest girl-lead financial literacy program in the united states, which teaches goal setting, decision making, money management, people skills and business ethics.
membership - 9,651 girls and 4,079 adults were served in 2014 where girls discover the fun, friendship, and power of girls together. Girl scouting helps girls develop their full individual potential; relate to others with increasing understanding, skill, and respect; develop values to guide their actions and provide the foundation for sound decision-making; and contribute to the improvement of society through their abilities, leadership skills, and cooperation with others.
adult training (expenses $227,001)(grants $85)(revenue $2,841)- 280 adult volunteers participated in educational sessions regarding stem, financial literacy, safety and first aid, age level development, conflict resolution, diversity, outdoor skills, and safe dating. Camping (expenses $416,945)(grants $16,129)(revenue $175,585)- 588 girls and adults served in 2014 throughout the organization's four camp properties. The girls and adults participated in stem and outdoor activities throughout the year on a daily, weekly, overnight or weekend basis through our camp programs, encampments and troop camping.
