Someone wrote an untrue and mean-spirited review about Giles Animal Rescue. I am a longtime volunteer. It is true we were kicked out of the shelter - after our complaints about conditions finally got the attention of the state inspector, who did a surprise visit and ordered it shut down until violations could be corrected. Concerned volunteers were also kicked out of the Montgomery and Floyd County shelters. What is not true is that we won't share our financial info, We are 501c3 so our 990 is filed every year at IRS website, open to anyone on the planet who cares to look. We take in lots of fosters from Giles, their photos are on our web and Facebook. Why would that mean person lie about that? We will willingly show copies of our vet bills to prove where the donations go. Donor contributions also help us get a lot of animals spayed and neutered for low (or no) income pet owners in the community. Spiteful people might do better volunteering in a different category than animal welfare because I doubt that someone who doesn't like people would be a good advocate for animals.
I am a former volunteer of this local animal rescue. They continue to solicit donations and contributions from the county citizens, yet they are not rescuing local animals from Giles animal shelter. The county has banned them from the shelter unless there is a county employee present. The shelter has been broken into numerous times with many items missing. The deputy's office was broken into where the euthanasia drugs are kept. A common street drug called Special K is the reason for this. They continue to state they are successfully pulling, fostering and transporting local animals from Giles shelter. This is not true. Their website is misleading. They will not release their financials to the public as requested at a Giles Board of Supervisors meeting in Feb 2013. There is no way to know how their donations/contributions are being used. The animals they promote on their website are not even from the county shelter.
