Mission: Horticultural & botanical education and research. The objectives of the gesneriad society are to afford a convenient and beneficial association of persons interested in gesneriads, to stimulate a widespread interest in gesneraids, gather and publish reliable information about the identification, correct nomenclature, culture and propagation of gesneriads; and to encourage the origination and introduction of new cultivars.
Programs: Annual convention with seminars, plant and seed distribution, and plant judging of hybrids and species with special focus on new species. Affords all members an opportunity to meet and share knowledge as well as display the plant family to the public at large.
publication and distribution of gesneriads journal to all members, containing cultural and scientific information regarding the botanical family gesneriaceae (ie. Gesneriads).
scholarship and research grants to students and researchers working in a field with emphasis on the gesneriad family of plants.
