Causes: Crime & Law, Public Interest Law
Mission: Gender justice is a nonprofit law and policy advocacy organization devoted to addressing the causes and consequences of gender inequality, both locally and nationally.
Programs: The organization addresses gender inequality through strategic and impact litigation, policy advocacy, and public education which work in concert with each other to bring about systemic change. Our lawsuits on behalf of those with the least access to justice tell stories that highlight existing human and civil rights and gaps in the law where we can focus efforts to change public policy through legislation. We select cases based on either their potential to affect broad populations in similar situations as our clients or to set a powerful legal precedent on particular civil and human rights issues. Our public education work ensures people know their rights and supports other attorneys and institutions in helping to protect people's rights
