I have been a volunteer with FNVW for over five years. This organization has a long history of working to create peaceful interactions among individuals and communities. The people I have met have left me in awe of the power of community-building and the commitment of individuals to build bridges and listen with care and compassion. I am currently a board member and volunteer actively involved in working with the Alternatives to Violence Project (AVP).
I have known both the previous Executive Director, Jenn Hamrick, and current Executive Director, Leah Robshaw-Robinson and FNVW volunteers to be incredibly involved in contributing to creating a more peaceful world both by advocating for peace internationally and through local work and advocacy. I have heard a lot of positive feedback on the Alternatives to Violence program in local prisons and the training volunteers undergo in order to lead these workshops. I've been glad to be a part of working groups with FNVW where local peace and social justice organizations have come together to make an impact through nonviolence in the Twin Cities such as through MAP and Twin Cities Nonviolent. Keep up the good work!
