Mission: A community based support center that focuses on the social, emotional, physical, and spiritual needs of individuals with cancer and their support network of family and friends, as well as supporting individuals to actively manage the impact of cancer and improve their quality of life.
Programs: The gathering place is a caring community that supports, educates and empowers individuals and families touched by cancer through programs and services provided free of charge. The programs and services are for children and adults regardless of race, gender, religion and socio-economic status. They include but are not limited to: support groups for a variety of different cancer diagnoses, nutritional and medical bill consultation, guided imagery, tai chi, yoga, massage, reiki, reflexology, art and horticulture therapy, labyrinth meditative walks, a full array of children's and family support programs, healthy cooking classes, lectures from healthcare professionals, speaker's bureau and a lending library with a full-time medical librarian. Additionally, the gathering place has a programmatic healing garden to provide its programs and services externally as well as internally. The gathering place has served over 37,290 different people constituting over 290,000 visits to date.
