Programs: Equine-assisted psychotherapy & learning programming for adolescent girls - ghw provided eap to girls in chester & delaware county. This included adolescent girls in residential treatment & child welfare programs, as well as those on probation. Ghw has established strong relations with several area residential treatment centers, and has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes. Working closely with the chester county juvenile probation department (jpo), ghw provides innovative social-emotional learning programs for justice-involved girls. These programs guide youth through a process of transformative change that supports the capacity to make pro-social connections beyond the barn.

equine-assisted psychotherapy programming for adults - ghw works provided eap to men & women in chester and the surrounding counties in 2017. This includes men & women in residential treatment centers for drug and alcohol addiction, and women on probation. Ghw has established strong relations with several area residential treatment centers, and has demonstrated strong clinical outcomes. We also work closely with referring local therapists and behavioral health organizations to provide individual, group, and family sessions targeting issues such as anxiety, depression, eating disorders, addiction, ptsd, sexual trauma, and grief & bereavement. Our program helps clients see themselves, and their goals & challenges, through a new lens for many who often struggle to express themselves verbally.

bereavement support - ghw provides group programming for children, adults, and families coping with grief & bereavement in partnership with penn wissahickon hospice - penn medicine. In 2017 we hosted families in the second and third year of grief from penn wissahickon hospice for a family fun day. Gwhw was also contracted to bring horses to camp erin - an overnight camp which provides bereavement support for kids of all ages. Due to the success of those programs, we are continuing both programs in 2018, and developing specific programming for adults.

community education - gateway horseworks is a leader in the field of the eagala model of equine-assisted psychotherapy and personal development. As this experiential model of therapy emerges, many mental health professionals, government agencies, and foundations seek live demonstrations & workshops to learn, understand. And conceptualize this cutting-edge model. To that end, ghw provided several continuing education workshops and demonstrations over the last year. These workshops and demonstrations have helped to build support in the mental health community of this new "tool" in the toolbox. Additionally, ghw published an article in a peer-reviewed national publication, continuing its mission to add to the growing body of literature and research available to the community.
