Mission: To minimize the impact of homelessness and facilitate the restoration of broken family relationships by sheltering, feeding, and promoting literacy within the homeless population of Newton and surrounding counties. To support & empower individuals and families as they transition from homelessness to hope, with compassionate and comprehensive services, tailored to meet the needs of each individual and family.
Results: For over 22 year the The Garden of Gethsemane Homeless Shelter has been serving individuals and families. Services include: * Emergency Shelter is provided for up to 30 days. * Transitional Shelter is provided for up to 2 years. * Re-Entry Shelter is provided for up to 6 months. * Three (3) meals a day to residents and community members in need * Access to showers for residents and community members in need * Non-perishable food items to community members in need and to partner agencies * Life-Skills Training
Target demographics: individuals and families with emergency and transitional housing as they work towards financial stability.
Geographic areas served: Newton County Georgia
Programs: Shelter residents are provided an assigned bed with clothing storage area for 30 days in our emergency shelter and up to 2 years in our transitional housing program. We provide residents with 3 meals a day, and personal care items. Our facility includes access to a laundry, a clothing closet, a computer/library. We provide housing support to formally incarcerated individuals as they transition back to the community with re-entry beds and all of the above mentioned.
