If you are someone who has been diagnosed with cancer or suffered a stroke, the holidays may be a sad time for you. This friendly, fun loving organization is exactly what you need.
You will not only be showered with gift bags full of goodies, but surrounded by a group of compassionate, caring people who have first hand experience and know exactly what you are dealing with.
I have personally known the individuals who created this organization for years. The commitment and devotion they show to each person they come into contact with is truly astounding. Anyone who contributes to this great organization should feel confident their support will be put to good use.
Gammy and Papas is an amazing Nonprofit that goes above and beyond in helping children in anyway possible! They helped Ryan’s Wishes Nonprofit located in California by sending us school supplies for our 3rd & 4th annual back 2 school event. With their help we gave out backpacks filled with school supplies to children in need within our community! Thanks Gammy and Papa for all that you do!!
Although I have not had the honor of volunteering with Gammy and Papas Helping Hands, (because I live in Central Texas), I do know personally the dedication and determination that Billie and Russ have in making this charity successful and a source of joy and inspiration to those in need during the holidays. They work tirelessly throughout the year so they can put smiles on the faces of as many people as possible. Thank you, Billie and Russ, for all you and your volunteers do!
Russ and Billie are so wonderful!!! They are giving back so much with their time and energy for a great cause. They go to hospitals to hand out their bags. You should see the happy faces of the patients and their families when they stop by!!
Thank goodness I have not had to experience the giving of this organization personally. I have known the people who started this organization for years. They have been touched by cancer personally, Billie’s dad and her sister. They know first hand how cancer affects a family, they know the needs and the struggles. I know they work all year gathering the supplies they put in the bags and have a family event putting them together. The products they place in the bags are items that are needed but often the items forgotten when rushing to treatment. I know a special item they place in the bags are the port covers that help especially in the car I understand it helps with the seatbelt straps. Billie makes these port covers herself. They distribute the bags during the holidays which is sometimes a stressful time for people. Billie and Russ want to bring some cheer into everyone they give a bag to and they do this from their hearts and started this project with their own funds and time. I know the have brought cheer to a large number of people who were happy to get this bag. Now they are able to help more and more people every year.
I met this group through work, and I know them personally. As Billie told me about what they do for people receiving Chemo and other treatments during the holiday season my eyes filled with tears. Very sweet and loving gesture at a very busy time for us all, much less taking the time to stuff all those bags, make those wonderful port pillows and visit each and every recipient. This world needs more of this kind of love. Grammy and Papa are the best!
This is such a great organization. There is so much time and love that goes into the planning for each patient. My boys got to volunteer to help, and they had a great time helping for such a great cause. They deserve a lot of praise for giving such generous gifts to the patients undergoing treatments.
I had the opportunity to be of service in assembling the gift bags for the benefit of cancer patients and those affected in the Permian Basin with Aphasia. It was truly a rewarding experience working alongside Billie and Russ and the others that came together to spread hope and cheer to those who need it most. The gift bags were carefully planned out for both the men and women recipients, I would definitely give my time to the organization again.
I had the pleasure of assisting in the stuffing of bags that would be handed out to cancer patients last year. During this time I was able to visit with Billie Lopez and to feel her heart for those who are battling back from cancer and stroke. Seeing the amount of items she and her family had collected was astounding! I could not imagine the amount of time and effort that had gone in to a task so big. As she spoke about her goal for an even greater amount next year I could see the gleam in her eyes and the love pouring forth from her heart. The amount of good this group can do for patients who feel they have lost everything in one fell swoop, is amazing. They give the patients back their dignity, their hope, their comfort and they show them that they are not alone and that there are so many people out there that care. As a cancer survivor myself, I am proud to volunteer with Gammy and Papa's Helping Hand and be able to give back.
This is an awesome organization put together by family. They work hard all year round to make a difference in many peoples lives. They carefully put together bags of goodies that is useful to the patient and take in account the sex and age of the one they are giving to. It's a very well thought out experience for both the ones giving and receiving. Gammy and Papas whole goal is to bring a sense of pleasure and ease to the patience which have become more than a patient, they are their friends.
This charity is amazing! They personally deliver bags of goodies to cancer patients at Christmas time with Santa, the bags are filled by them with amazing things and things that are special to cancer patients such as hand made port pillows.
The work we have done helps put a smile on people's faces that are receiving chemo and/or in the hospital during the holidays.
This nonprofit is very helpful at time of need for patients receiving chemo, the support they give during this time at the holidays is great
