Mission: This organization's purpose is to provide low-income families the opportunity to own their own homes. They fulfill this mission by organizing community resources and volunteer labor to design and build homes. Each family who is to own one of these homes must participate in its construction as well as the construction of other homes. When they buy the home, they buy it on a no-interest deferred sales contract. Because the primary purpose of this organization is to build and transfer homes to low-income families, most of the program costs are capitalized as part of the cost of the home that is being built. Thus, program costs for this organization look very small, but indeed they are significant when taking into consideration the cost of the homes that are being build.
Programs: Construction and transfer of homes during the year to families that otherwise could not afford to own a home. Almost all of our program costs are capitalized as the cost of the home that we are building.
