Mission: Frost valley ymca is a values driven organization that fosters youth development, healthy living and social responsibility through outdoor educational and recreational programs for all. Frost valley provides four seasons of outdoor educational opportunities for more than 41,000 children and adults each year. More than 87% of those served come from schools, community organizations, and families residing in the new york metropolitan area.
Programs: Camp - summer camp is an affordable and superior summer camp for children. Overnight campers, age 7-15, live in one of the most breathtaking settings in the country while attending traditional overnight camp, adventure trips, horse camp, farm camp, survival camp, and other service learning trips. During 2016, frost valley provided 2,778 children of all backgrounds and abilities with the chance to discover our life-changing community at summer camp.
retreats - families and groups are welcome for retreats, conferences and teambuilding workshops from september through june for programs that foster healthy bonds among their group, teambuilding and goal setting skills, outdoor recreation and education, and long-lived traditions that are passed down for generations. These participants include ymca adventure guides (parent-child retreats), religious organizations, college groups, and girl scouts on weekend retreat. Frost valley's east valley ranch hosts groups such as road scholar which highlight the arts and outdoors. East valley ranch also offers a home base in the catskills for casting for recovery, which provides free therapeutic fly-fishing weekends to breast cancer survivors. During 2016, frost valley hosted 19,413 participants in these various retreat programs.
environmental education - offered to schools throughout the tri-state area for 1-3 day programs in environmental education, teambuilding, and conflict resolution. Learning activities are based on new york and new jersey state curriculum standards and complement classroom lessons with hands-on exploration and field study of science principles. Teambuilding activities on low and high ropes, cable bridges and a climbing tower help set the tone for the positive social interactions that today's classroom teachers are striving to bring to their schools and classrooms. During 2016, frost valley provided 16,406 students, including teachers and chaperones, with environmental educational experience.
