Mission: The purpose of the friends of wilderness battlefield is to assist the fredericksburg and spotsylvania national military park in its efforts to preserve the wilderness battlefield in spotsylvania and orange counties, virginia. The organization provides advocacy, educational programs, and funding for service and restoration projects on the battlefield.
Programs: Friends of wilderness battlefield (fowb) has worked to assist the national park service preserve, protect and educate the public about the wilderness battlefield by working to restore and staff ellwood manor on the battlefield with volunteers. Approximately 5000 people visited ellwood in 2017. Additional work was done in 2017 to enhance the visitor experience by removing a 1950's era garage from the property.
