Mission: To foster a love of libraries, books and reading in the Knox County area through community outreach, advocacy and support of the Knox County Public Library System and staff.
Results: Over 1 Million has been raised for the Knox County Public Library System in our 45 years. We have built our support base up to 1, 200 people. Friends of the Library's support makes possible the Children’s Festival of Reading, the book discussions facilitated by community leaders, the events for teens, the Summer Library Clubs. Friends supports all of the things that make the library an invaluable part of the Knox County community. Friends helps make KCPL a library system that does not wait for patrons to come make use of it. Because of Friends, the Library System has the resources to reach beyond their walls and help cultivate a community that values literacy, knowledge and real engagement.
