Mission: The purpose of this organization is to establish closer relations between the agawam public library and the people it serves; to promote informed interest in its function, resources, services, and needs; to confer with the staff of the agawam public library on matters related to the welfare of the institution; to stimulate and receive gifts, endowments and bequests for the benefit of the library; and to support the development of a program for the extension and improvement of the library's services and programs.
Programs: Library passes - library passes are museum passes library patrons borrowed for free or at a reduced fee to eight local museums. Two hundred and ninety eight (298) library passes were borrowed in calendar year 2016.
adult esl classes - the objective of the class is to teach conversational english to the students. Some students are looking for help with english in order to pass the citizenship tests or to become more fluent in the english language. During 2016, the class met 34 times and approximately 8-10 students attended the class on a weekly basis.
summer reading program - the summer reading program was a challenge issued to students in the 4 elementary schools in town. 257 students completed the reading challenge. The school with the most 25 day readers received $200 for their library. The remaining 3 schools received $100 each for their libraries. The objective of the event was to keep students reading during the summer months.
