Causes: Health, Patient & Family Support
Mission: Give cancer children hope, a positive image, and the will to fight "one more round" providing emotional and financial support for the child and the family.
Programs: Camp merry times program for children with cancer and their siblings, ages 4-18. Children are assigned to cabins and their "own" counselors and then several fun-filled days of closely supervised activities. . . Fishing, canoeing, arts & crafts, archery, horseback riding, rope courses, campfires, s'mores, singing, water sports and camp outs for the older kids. Santa claus joins them sometimes he even comes fishing. The camp site is donated for the four days and the community gives goods and services throughout the year to help support this big event.
the ted van-thullenar/friends of santa claus scholarship is offered to the children in the program that are cancer survivors or are still in treatment when they reach college age. The scholarship is for 2,000 each year for four years to a college or technical college of choice. Three individuals received scholarships totaling 6,000. A partial refund of a prior scholarship in the amount of 1,000 was returned to the organization.
special wishes and gifts for children with cancer is a program where they make wishes come true for terminally ill children. They also gave many gifts to families throughout the year.
1). They have a big carnival with games and prizes for the children when they arrive. A professional photographer attends to provide each family with a christmas photo. Then they have a christmas banquet followed by christams carols and a visit from santa claus. This is santa's "favorite party" because he always seems to know exactly what the children wanted for chirstmas. Christmas party and gifts expenses in 2017 were 12,469.
