The gem of the Las Vegas Valley is Red Rock Canyon National Conservation Area. The contributions of the members and volunteers of Friends of Red Rock Canyon make a huge contribution to keeping Red Rock pristine. Cleaning the canyon, hauling out the trash, removing graffiti, maintaining the landscape, cataloging the cultural resources, staffing the information desk and much, much more. Volunteer hours equated to more than 8 full-time employees last year. With 2 million visitors a year and shrinking federal budgets, Red Rock needs all the friends it can get...even this bobcat who visited the tortoise habitat recently!

We are so lucky to have volunteers that give their time and love to preserve and take care of the wildlife, plants and animals that live in Red Rock Canyon.

Friends of Red Rock Canyon is such a wonderful nonprofit! As you can see from the photos I attached, FORRC funds and volunteers care for the threatened Mojave Desert Tortoises housed at the visitor center, clean graffiti, and improve trails, among other things. I have volunteered with a number of nonprofit organizations over the years, and FORRC is by far my favorite. The board members and other volunteers are so friendly and dedicated, and it's truly amazing how much we accomplish in the space of a year!
