The pine grove zoo is a small zoo that is part of a community of approximately 8,200 people. Even though we are small in size, the impact we have in the community and surrounding communities is vast. One way this is evident is in our thriving educational programs. The number of educational programs we offer is modest but the amount of information we are able to convey through our programs are immense and far reaching. Our programs are designed to connect with a variety of people of all ages, interests, and backgrounds thru interactive, educational and fun activities. The following educational programs:guided and self-guided tours-reached 3,698 people. On-site education programs such as operant training demonstrations; zookeeper and enrichment presentations; drew over 2,211 people. On-site outreach presentations offered during "special events" such as breakfast with the animals, as well as the zoo gone wild and the zoo fest, which has become an educational experience along with one of the zoo's major fund raisers and approximately 1,897 people attended these three events. Off-site outreach presentations that reached a variety of groups throughout the community numbered 8 and reached over 983 people. The volunteer efforts of pine grove zoo were supported by close to 58 volunteers over the year and those volunteers logged 488 hours.
